• New structure — fully custom geometry and mechanism. Higher differentiation, but budget for engineering, tooling, more sample rounds and a pilot run.

Most successful brands do the first for their launch product and the second for their third or fourth — once sales data tells them which structure is worth the investment.

Materials and hardware: where the money goes
