Camping Tent OEM/ODM Guide: From Brief to Bulk
A custom camping tent is product development, not a logo swap. The brands that succeed treat it like the rooftop tent projects we also run: start from a proven platform, change what the market rewards, and only invest in fully custom structure once demand is proven.
OEM, ODM and private label — the real difference
- OEM — you own the design; we build to your specification, drawings or reference product.
- ODM — you select a platform from our range, then customize fabric, color, branding and packaging.
- Private label — a ready model produced with your logo, hang tags and packaging. Fastest to launch.
What you can actually customize
- Structure — cotton cabin, tipi, rectangle/six-sided tarp, family tunnel, pop-up, shower tent.
- Materials — TC210 polyester-cotton canvas, 300D/600D Oxford with PU coating, 190T taffeta; floor PVC mesh; aluminum, iron or fiberglass frame.
- Colors — shell, trim, stitching, zipper tape.
- Logo and branding — embroidery, woven labels, screen print, custom zipper pulls.
- Packaging — custom boxes, inserts, manuals, hang tags, barcodes (multilingual for the EU).
What to bring to the factory
- Target retail price and margin — it constrains every decision after it.
- Target market and its compliance rules (flammability, labeling, packaging).
- Volume estimate and whether the model is seasonal.
- Reference products or sketches — phone photos beat a verbal description.
MOQ, tooling and cost
Standard models open at 50 pcs with mixed models allowed. Fully custom structures need new patterns and sometimes tooling, so MOQ and unit price are quoted per scope (custom mold typically 200–300 pcs). What moves the price: quantity, fabric class, hardware grade, and packaging complexity.
Timeline
- Sampling: 7–15 days per round after drawings are confirmed.
- Golden sample approval — the binding reference for mass production.
- Bulk production: 15–30 days after deposit and materials lock.
Realistic first-project timeline from first contact to goods shipped: 6–10 weeks including two sample rounds. See from prototype to mass production for the full stage-by-stage breakdown.
Quality and compliance
Our quality system is certified to ISO 9001, with fabric and product testing through international third-party labs (Bureau Veritas halogen, Intertek flammability). That applies across both our rooftop and ground tent lines.
